Family Sundays every weekend this summer!

Spending time with your family is one of the most enjoyable parts of summer. This season, Harbourfront Centre wants to ensure that you and the ones you love have an extravagant experience to enjoy together by showcasing a very special family-focused activity, every Sunday.

Expect unique performances and workshops catered to young audiences and families. Family Sundays provides an entertaining and invigorating cultural learning experience to those who attend and incorporates the programming of Planet IndigenUS and FLAUNT, two of Harbourfront Centre’s fantastic summer festivals.

Stimulate the mind, burst out in laughter and have fun, all in one place! Here’s a sneak peek of what’s to come at Family Sundays this summer at Harbourfront Centre:

July 5 – Jane Austen Tea & Dance will provide a family-friendly taste of Regency dance with traditional music and free tea on the lawn. Join in and learn a few simple steps with the help of teachers. Regency attire encouraged.

July 12 – Mini Pong for All invites you to play on reduced-sized ping-pong tables, which help foster social engagement. Laugh, have fun, and connect with others from your community.

July 19 – Family Sunday with Uma Nota featuring: costume, hat and noise makers craft-making, face painting, song, dance & drum workshops and a selfie station! All culminating in a grand finale parade of the boi (bull) where families will be encouraged to participate!

July 26 – Flaunt Family Fashion Show is an interactive event that embraces identity and individuality. Design and create hand-crafted accessories and watch them light up the runway.

August 2 – Moko-Jumbie Dancing Spirits Family Workshop teaches the Africa-derived, Trinidadian tradition of the Moko Jumbie, a stilt-dancing spirit of the forest. Instructors equipped with short training stilts for children will lead you in a workshop.

August 9 – Family Interactive Indigenous Storytelling with Aqua teaches some of the oldest indigenous traditions focused on the importance of family. The use of games provides a fun learning experience that always ends in laughter — the strongest and most healing medicine.

September 6 – Family Jam with the Recipe Band This engaging, sing-a-long band gives a high-energy performances alongside the Hot & Spicy Food Festival.

With all that’s happening at Harbourfront Centre there is sure to be something that suits your interests. Family Sundays are an excellent way to bond as a family, build new friendships, and become an engaged member of the community. And let’s not forget that family Sundays are FREE!
